Farm Weekend with my mom and dad

We were sooo looking forward to this weekend.  It was raining by the time we got there and what is a farm weekend without an adventure??

Yip, we were stuck  just after the 4th gate into the farm.  Frans and my Dad had a ball trying to get the bakkie out of the mud.  My dad was in and out of the bakkie and  I couldn’t help but laugh as I looked at my mom with worried eyes.  Just as we got out of the mud my Dad said to Frans.. “let’s go back and do it again” and I am sure if we were not there they would have done it again.

Family Camp Weekend

We went camping this weekend at a reserve in Rustenburg with Frans’s moms family “the van Wyks”.  It was great to see everyone again and what is better than sitting around a camp fire at night with a sky full of stars.

Never a dull moment

We got a phone call on our way home this afternoon… Frans’s mom saying in a very serious voice “how far are you guys from home” Now that already is code in Labuschagne language for someone got hurt.  My heart sank cause for a second their I thought which one of the boys could it be… or is it more than one… did they fall out of the tree, hit the rail of the trampoline and please don’t let anything be broken!!!  Then I asked the question… did anyone get hurt and she said yes!  It wasn’t one of the boys, it was Frans’s dad.  He broke his wrist and they are at the Union Hospital as we speak.  When I spoke to them earlier they said they are looking at him, it’s a bad break and his got a big cut on the inside of his hand.  And of course you can just guess what I said when I heard how…. I believe my words were “fuckenhell” Can I swear on a blog? Well that was my reaction.  My brother inlaw and Frans’s uncle went buggy riding this afternoon.  Frans’s dad joined them and said he was going to beat their lap times and he rolled the buggy which is covered with a roll cage but he stuck his arm out in the fall and the steel pipe broke his wrist.  Riani and I was talking this afternoon and we thought how crazy is it that in only a few months so many things has happened in this family and with Frans’s dad specifically… he broke his leg … motorbike, he lost a tip of his finger… don’t even ask and now this.  We want to try and pop in before work tomorrow morning but that will be very early and I don’t know if they will allow it.  We will have to wait and see.
